Governance that holds up.

Govern is the governors' portal: the headteacher's termly report, meetings with their papers, decisions and actions, the challenge log, statutory duties and the Ofsted pack, in one place, with each governor's own list of what to do next.

What it does

The portal holds the board's work for the year. Governors read; the clerk and the report team write. Everything a governor sees is the school's own data, in the school's own database.

The headteacher's report

  • Written each term by named contributors, one section each, with the figures that read live from the school's system and freeze on the day it is issued
  • Issued to the board, then exported to Word and PDF
  • Each section's progress shown to the report team while it is being written

The school on a page

  • Attendance, behaviour, achievement, roll and the rest, against the same point last year and against England
  • Needs a governor: what has fallen behind, in one list
  • The development plan's priorities and the school's self-evaluation against the evidence

Meetings

  • One page per meeting: the agenda, each item's papers, report sections, figures and earlier decisions as evidence
  • The pack issued on a date; each paper marked read for each governor, with the reading time
  • Decisions and minutes under each item; actions with an owner and a date, ticked off by the owner
  • A governor's own question on an item, private until shared with the chair

Challenge log and actions

  • Every question governors ask, its answer, who answered and when, and whether it is closed
  • An open question goes on the next agenda
  • Every action across every meeting, overdue first

The board

  • Members, roles, categories, terms of office and committees, as the school publishes them
  • Each governor's visits, training hours and yearly confirmations: KCSIE read, interests declared, the code of conduct signed
  • Access requests, authorised by a person

Duties and safeguarding

  • The year's statutory duties with a name and a date on each, overdue in red
  • The termly safeguarding checklist, signed item by item by the link governor
  • Staffing stability against last year; the trust's visits and the challenge they left

The Ofsted pack

  • This year's governance evidence as one PDF: reports, meetings, decisions, challenge, visits, duties, the checklist
  • Made from the records as they stand, whenever it is asked for

Who sees what

  • Governors read issued reports, each meeting once its pack is out, and their own records
  • The clerk runs the meetings and reads everything. The report team writes; a contributor sees their section only
  • Confidential items go to the committee that owns them. Every view, export and refusal is logged

Search and help

  • One search box over pages, answers, meetings, items, actions, questions, visits and members
  • The school can switch any part off, or show it to the report team only while it is tried
  • Microsoft sign-in. Works on a phone

Three ways to start

Every school starts on Core. White glove and Custom are things we do for you; nothing starts or is charged from this page.

Core

A blank portal. You get on with it.

The whole portal from day one: reports, meetings, the challenge log, actions, visits, duties, the checklist, members, training, live figures and the Ofsted pack.

  • Invite your governors and add records as your board meets
  • The portal fills up through the year
  • Email support

White glove

You send the documents. We seed the portal.

Everything in Core, set up from what you already have, so the portal is up to date from the first day.

  • You upload last year's minutes, your governors and committees, your development plan and the headteacher's reports in the portal, never by email
  • We organise them into meetings, decisions, actions, members and the calendar
  • It ends on a date: caught up by an agreed day

Custom

White glove, plus what is missing.

Everything in White glove, then a review of your documents against what Ofsted has cited in schools like yours, stating what is missing.

  • Your clerk accepts or rejects each suggestion; nothing changes without them
  • Items you mark confidential are never reviewed
  • Agreed with you, school by school
Yes, contact me

Pricing

One price per school, per year, for the portal. White glove once. Custom agreed with you.

  • Every governor, the clerk and the report team, with no limit on the number of people
  • Your school on its own address, in its own database
  • Included for a school on Planwell's Every Lesson Counts
  • The demo portal stays free
